A: You can register only online via www.ironman703.de at the menu item Entry .

Q: I can´t participate at IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship. How can I withdraw from the race?
A: New cancellation regulations for Ironman races in Europe and South Africa (Effective from November 25, 2011)
If you are registered for the Ironman 70.3 European Championship 2012 in Wiesbaden/Germany and wish to cancel your registration, you have the following options:
A) REFUND OPTION
Withdrawal until April 12 8, 2012: 50% refund
Withdrawal until June 12, 2012: 25% refund
Withdrawal after June 12, 2012: no refund
It is not necessary to give a reason for withdrawal in order to receive the above mentioned refund. Please download the withdrawal form below and send it per e-mail to withdrawal@ironman.com or per fax to +43(0) 463 5096 5132.
B) TRANSFER OPTION
It is possible to transfer your entry to one of the following races. Please note that a transfer to sold out races is not possible.

The following conditions apply in order to be eligible for a slot transfer:
- Registration for the original race before December 31, 2011
- Transfers before the 50% cut-off are possible without giving of reason
- Transfers after the 50% and before the 25% cut-off possible only with a valid medical certificate, to be submitted with withdrawal form
- No transfers possible after the 25% cut-off
- Slots may only be transferred once per race season
- A one-time service fee of 29 € will be charged to the athlete, payment per credit card only
- In case of a transfer from Ironman 70.3 to Ironman the difference in entry fees must be paid
- When transferring from Ironman to Ironman 70.3, the difference in entry fee will not be refunded to the athlete
- Relay teams are exempt from the transfer policy
- It is not possible to transfer the slot to another athlete or another year. Exceptions are late season races after August 25. Athletes registered for these races may transfer their slot to races taking place before June 30 of the following year.

It is in the athlete’s responsibility to submit complete withdrawal and medical forms. Incomplete withdrawal forms or failure to submit medical certificates within the specified deadlines will result in delayed processing times.

Q: How do I change information on my entry?
A: Here are instructions to update or make changes to entries:
1. Visit the online entry form:

3. Enter the email address of your original registration and the
password you created upon registration.
4. Click Personal Information to update any of your personal
details.
5. Click Medical Info & Waiver to update any of your medical
conditions.
6. Amend your entry details as necessary and click the Continue
button.
7. Click Finalize and Update your Registration to save changes.
Q: What is the entry fee for single start and IronTeam relay?
A:
The entry fee for the single start at the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship is 215,- Euro and for the IronTeam relay 255,- Euro. The late entry fee after May 1, 2012 for the single start is plus 50,- Euro. The late entry fee after May 1, 2012 for the IronTeam relay start is plus 45,- Euro.
Q: What is relevant for the classification of the age groups?
A: Starting in 2009, the Ford Ironman World Championship and all qualifying events will implement both the International Triathlon Federation and USA Triathlon´s Age Group Competition rule, which states that “All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete´s age on December 31 of the year of the event.”
Q: How do I know whether my registration got accepted?
A: All registered participants who have paid the entry fee will appear on the starting list on our web site within 3-5 days after receipt of payment. Please note that international transfers of money may take up to three weeks. Please also keep in mind that ONLY fully paid applications will be listed.
Q: My adress or other information regarding my person have changed in the meantime. How can I communicate these changes?
A:
Please proceed as described in “How do I change information on my entry?”.
Q: I already registered my team, but now one of the team members cannot race. Can I name a substitute and if yes, how should I proceed?
A:
If a team is already registered, we will have to charge a fee of EUR 50,- for a name change. Please send us your request (mandatory) per e-mail to athlete@ironman.de. Changes are only possible until four weeks before the race!
Q: Do foreign athletes need a special licence for the race even if they hold a licence of an ITU member country?
A: No, all you need to bring is your national licence for registration. In case you do not have one, you will have to buy a 1-day-licence when picking up your starting documents.
Q: Is there a limit for entries from foreign countries?
A: No!
Q: What kind of nutrition will be offered during the race ?
A: On the course our sponsor PowerBar will offer the products PowerBar Performance Bar, PowerGel and PowerBar ISOACTIVE. Additionally we will offer water, coke, energy drink, fruit, cookies and more. At the Finish Line there will be pasta, sandwiches, fruit, cake and more.
Q: Do you have a Race-Bike-Service?
A: Yes, a Bike-Service-Team will be present in the transition zone and on the course. From Friday on there will be a special service station which sells spare parts, helmets and more at the lake (swim course).
Q: Where is the Race Office located?
A: The Race Office (for registration a.o.) is located inside the Finish Area (Kurhaus Wiesbaden), just next to the Finish Line. It is open Friday, August 10, 2012 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. All race packets must be picked up in the Race Office.
Q: Where is the SportExpo located?
A: The IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship SportExpo will be located in the Finish Area near the Finish Line. The SportExpo is open daily Friday, August 10, 2012 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Q: Where and when does the Pre Race Briefing take place?
A: The Pre Race Briefings are on Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the Kurhaus. The Pre Race Briefing in German is held at 10:00 am and at 03:00 pm, the Pre Race Briefing in English ist held at 11:00 am and the Pre Race Briefing for pro athletes is held at 01:00pm at the official race hotel. The Pre Race Briefing is an obligation.
Q: Where will the Pasta Party and the Awards Party take place?
A: The Pasta Party (Carbo party) will take place Friday before the race from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Bowling Green, in front of the Kurhaus Wiesbaden. The Awards Party will be held on Sunday, August 12, at 1:00 pm in front of the Kurhaus Wiesbaden for Pros and 06:30 pm in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden for all agegroupers.
Q: Where are the Finish Line and the spectator stands?
A: The Finish Line is in front of the “Kurhaus“ building. The stands for the spectators create a great finishing arena in this truly historical place.

Q: Can anybody file an entry as a professional athlete?
A: No. Whoever wants to compete as a pro must be in posession of a valid IRONMAN PRO membership. If doing so and if qualifying for the IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 in Las Vegas this athlete has to compete as pro in Las Vegas. Pro athletes wishing to race in Wiesbaden should please contact the race director.
Q: May beginners/first timers participate in IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship?
A: Yes, of course, beginners/first timers who have never done any IRONMAN or any other long distance triathlon are very welcome.
Q: What does “Athlete´s Garden“ mean?
A: It is a kind of chill-out zone for all athletes at the “Kurhaus“-area, directly next to the Finish Line. Here you can find showers, refreshments, a place to relax and hang out. You´ll also get your IRONMAN Finisher Certificate and your IRONMAN Finisher Shirt there. Only athletes and medical staff as well as the organisation team will have access to the Athlete's Garden. The whole place is intended to create a beautiful and quiet atmosphere to help you relax and recover from a great day of hard “racework“.
Q: Which time limits apply for the different legs of the race?
A: The swim leg has to be completed in 1:10 hours after the start, the whole bike leg 7:00 hours after the first start. The time limit for the whole race is 8 hours after the last start.
Q: How many qualification slots are available for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship?
A: 50 slots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas 2012 are available. The distribution to the different age groups is explained on this web site. All athletes who want to qualify have to clearly mark this on the entry form. They have to be present at the Awards Ceremony on Sunday after the race latest at 06:30 pm and have to bring the entry fee and a valid picture-ID for Las Vegas.
Q: Is it allowed to accompany athletes on the course?
A: No, athletes who do actively not refuse this kind of accompaniment will be disqualified.
Q: What is required in the area of the environment protection by the athletes?
A: The participant should respect the interests of the environment protection by his behaviour and not load the nature more than inevitably by his behaviour and the participation in the event. Garbage (gel packaging, empty bottles, etc.) may be decontaminated on the bike- and on the run course only in the area of the aid stations at the places intended for it. An offence against this rule is avenged with the red card.
Q: How does the swim start work?
A: It will be group starts in each age group from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.

Q: Will wetsuits be allowed?
A: Yes, up to a water temperature of 24.5°C. It can be assumed that this temperature will not be exceeded and wetsuits will be allowed. In case it is forbidden to swim a wetsuit, it is also forbidden to swim a swimsuit with percentage of rubber and/or neoprene. Please observe that the final ruling will be announced in the pre race briefing.
Q: What´s allowed to wear, if the water temprature is over 24,5° Celsius?
A: Effective September 1, 2010, all swimwear/speedsuits at Ironman 70.3 events MUST be comprised of 100% textile material such as nylon or lycra and may not include rubberized material such as polyurethane or neoprene. Swimwear/speedsuits may NOT cover the neck or extend past the shoulders or knees. Swimwear/speedsuits may contain a zipper. A race kit or trisuit may be worn underneath swimwear/speedsuits.

Q: Which bike should be used?
A: We don´t want to give a special recommendation, but the course profile of the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship generally allows all kind of triathlon bikes with aero position.
Q: Are any guided bike course tours offered?
A: During the race week there will be no bike course tour.
Q: Is drafting allowed?
A: No, drafting is absolutely forbidden. It will result in a time penalty
of 4 minutes. The referee will signal the athlete and show the black
card. The athlete must then stop at the next penalty box, report his
card and serve his penalty. The penalty boxes are clearly marked (tent with print). A second penalty for drafting leads to disqualification.
Q: What is the total elevation on the bike course?
A: Approximately 1500 meters of climbing add up during the one lap.
Q: Is it allowed to use disc wheels?
A: Yes, they can be recommended during normal weather conditions.
Q: How many laps do you have to run?
A: You have to run 4 laps plus finish line. Here you can download the course map.
Q: Are there any supporting events?
A: Yes, we organise an IRONKIDS event (Bike & Run) on August 11, 2012 and also we offer the possibility to participate at the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship as a so called IronTeam. This means a relay of 3 persons with each person doing one discipline. Please see button IronTeam-Relay for details.
